Wake Up From Your Dream
Everyone has had dreams while sleeping. Falling asleep, you forget all about who you are and experience all kinds of places and things that are simply happening on the mental platform even though they seem completely real, like your conscious life. Sometimes while asleep and dreaming, you recognize, “I am dreaming”. Sometimes you have good dreams, sometimes bad dreams. How many times have you woken up and thought “that dream was so real” or felt anger or fear or elation and told someone about it?
Another feature of dreams is the lack of connection between your senses and what you are dreaming about. In your dream you may eat something, but it is tasteless because your tongue is not tasting the food, it is dream food.
A bad dream may cause you to toss and turn and yell or make noise and someone who is not asleep can shake you and wake you up, knowing you are just dreaming. Or you are having a dream that is so nice that you are disappointed if you get woken up.
What if everything you know and experience whether awake or asleep is a much greater dreaming condition? In other words, your entire life from birth to death is a type of dream.
Vedic knowledge addresses this question and answers authoritatively that yes, you the eternal spirit soul, while in a material body within the material dimension, are asleep within that body.
Identifying that body as yourself and everything the body experiences as real, is also a dream but on a much more complex and greater scale.
When you fall asleep and you dream that you are the body in the dream, you forget who you are, the person lying on the bed.
Likewise, you, the eternal living being, leave the spiritual dimension, fall asleep and are placed within a material body in the material dimension. Dreaming that you are the body, you experience the pains and pleasures of that body which are very real and intense, and you completely forget that you are an indestructible and eternal person who when fully awake exist in the spiritual world in a perfect spiritual body made of eternality, knowledge, and bliss.
Lifetime after lifetime, you exist in this continuous dreaming condition, dreaming that you are old or young, rich or poor, happy or miserable, hungry or thirsty, in pain or enjoying pleasure, unaware that you are asleep until someone who is awake calls you and shakes you and wakes you from the dream and helps you from falling asleep again. That person is truly kind.
Bhakti yoga is the process that shakes you awake from your slumber and shows you the dream and your eternal existence.
Conditioned by sleeping for millions of lifetimes, it is easy to fall asleep again but hearing transcendental sound dissipates the fog of drowsiness and illusion which always is tugging you to return to sleep. The alarm has gone off and you can turn it off and get up, or hit the snooze button, or just go back to sleep.
Hearing transcendental sound is simple and extremely powerful and enables one to gradually understand the difference between the dreaming condition of material existence and the eternal condition of being spiritually awake even while in a material body in the material world.
The material dimension is the place where everyone is asleep, trapped in a material body, and trying to enjoy the dream individually and collectively but like all dreams at some point they end, and a new one begins. This is the cycle of birth and death.
The material body’s enjoyment is extremely limited compared to the ever-expanding enjoyment of the spiritual living being.
When the spirit soul awakens, his dormant love for the Supreme Person awakens. Wake up by hearing transcendental sound below.
Govinda!
A veces, mientras duermes y sueñas, reconoces: "Estoy soñando". A veces tienes buenos sueños, a veces malos sueños. ¿Cuántas veces te has despertado y has pensado “ese sueño era tan real” o has sentido ira, miedo o euforia y se lo has contado a alguien?
I really like this post.I am current under 2weeks till I have my second hip replacement in under 2 weeks time - so I can really identify with sleeping, as I seem to sleep somewhat more than usual. The hippo picture really made me chuckle, as I slept a whopping 12hours last night (in the hope of rising earlier!!) ...I guess my physique needs more rest currently lol HB
All mental activity becomes tiresome & burdensome‼️The greater need to learn of spiritual identity & transcendental relationship with the Supreme Person…..not on the mental plane.
